It was announced yesterday evening that Light + Building 2020 has been postponed due to the Covid-19 outbreak and will be rescheduled for September.
The show was scheduled to be held at the Messe Frankfurt from the 8th to 13th March 2020.
Organisers were originally confident that the show would still go ahead despite the virus outbreak, but recent events has changed their mind.
In a statement released last night, show organisers said: “The unexpected appearance of Covid-19 in Italy since last weekend demanded a new analysis of the situation in close cooperation with the public-health authorities of the City of Frankfurt. A multi-stage health check on guests from China has been called for, the implementation of which would be extremely challenging for Messe Frankfurt.
“Additionally, more and more travel restrictions are being put into place thus making it difficult for both visitors and exhibitors to attend the fair. Therefore, the organisers have decided to postpone Light + Building.”
Rather than cancelling the show all together, the show is being rescheduled. Organisers have not confirmed dates yet but have said that the show will be held in Frankfurt between the middle and end of September 2020.
