Light + Building new date cancelled, show to return in its normal format in 2022

Following the postponement of the Light + Building 2020 show due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Messe Frankfurt and its partners, ZVEI and ZVEH, have decided to cancel the show altogether with it returning in March 2022.

Originally planned to be held from 13 to 18 March 2020, organisers decided to reschedule the show to be held from 27 September to 2 October 2020. However, in light of the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, organisers have decided to cancel the show for 2020 completely.

As Light + Building is held every two years, this means the show will not return until 2022.

German government guidelines state that major events cannot be held in the country until at least the end of August, with no guarantees that restrictions will be lifted at the end of August.

“The current regulations, combined with continued global travel restrictions and the potential threat to individual health, make it impossible to hold Light + Building in 2020,” said Wolfgang Marzin.

“At the same time, in the interests of exhibitors and visitors, we must avoid unnecessary costs in good time. The decision has not been easy for any of us, but now we shall be directing our energies to holding the next Light + Building in its accustomed sequence in 2022.”

The decision to cancel the 2020 show also affects Intersec Building. Now, as a platform for connected security technology, the format will celebrate its premiere as an integral part of Light + Building in 2022.

Light + Building and Intersec Building will now be held from 13 to 18 March 2022 in Frankfurt am Main.
