Monitor Audio and Airt Audio have joined Clarity Alliance, strengthening the UK hi-fi trade association as it works to attract younger and more diverse audiences to the sector.
The announcement was made during Clarity’s latest industry focus roundtable discussion, held at Monitor Audio’s newly opened Experience Centre in Essex.
Founded in 1972, Monitor Audio is one of the UK’s specialist loudspeaker manufacturers, while Airt Audio distributes premium audio brands including Vitus, Avalon and Gold Note.
Fraser Robertson, director of Airt Audio, said: “I was hugely enthused by the roundtable discussion held at Monitor Audio’s offices and the breadth of knowledge, ideas and passion voiced by those in attendance.
“It is vital for the future of the hi-fi industry that events like this take place, giving a voice to people working in the industry who care deeply about ensuring a strong and sustainable future for hi-fi in the UK.”
Robertson added that Airt Audio was pleased to support Clarity’s initiatives and help the association in its mission to promote the future of the sector.
Michael Johnson, global marketing director for Monitor Audio, said: “We attended Clarity’s first roundtable event and were impressed by the very positive views of those present, who represented a mainly female perspective.
“It is so encouraging to see the make-up of the industry becoming more diverse and representative and we believe it is important to support initiatives like this that are designed to ensure long-term prosperity.”
Clarity said its roundtable programme is designed to explore ways of attracting more diverse and younger audiences into hi-fi, both as consumers and as future industry professionals.
