CEDIA has announced a new training course as an addition to its education programme. The new course is called ‘Designing Ethernet & Wireless Networks’ and is available to book now.
The CEDIA education programme is designed to allow technology integrators to further their industry knowledge and develop their careers in this evolving market sector.
The new addition to programme, designed for those with existing knowledge of IP and networks, is a one-day course and will arm attendees with the skills and knowledge needed to build a robust network for the home. The course will explore all aspects of modern networks, including traffic flow, infrastructure planning, connectivity options, and planned redundancy, considering both retrofit and new build properties. Additional topics include power planning, equipment location and rack design, testing strategies, and upgradeability.
The session will require group work to develop a robust network that will be stable for a list of connected host devices. Wired and wireless connectivity will be included, as well as host devices from the AV, computing, and mobile world.
Although it is not necessary, it is recommended that integrators attend CEDIA’s Networking School before taking the course. It is also an ideal course to take for those working towards the CEDIA Networking Specialist Certification (ESC-N).

The course agenda is as follows:
• Introduction to CEDIA and course agenda
• Relevant network topologies and their applications in an IP network
• How to evaluate network need by analysing occupant behaviours
• Predicting likely bandwidth needs for individual and groups of host devices
• Designing a wired network that meets the present and probable future needs of specific client
• Proposing a wireless network that meets the needs of likely host devices
The first course will be held at the CEDIA Training Centre, St Neots, on Thursday 6th June. It is £179 + VAT for members and £249 + VAT for non-members.
