Niles Audio to Demo Auriel Multiroom System at ISE

Niles has been innovating in the custom install audio space for almost four decades and we’re not about to slow down.

In audio distribution, Niles pioneered “one touch to music” simplicity in multi-room audio a decade ago and the brand continues to deliver on that promise.

Niles Auriel is the latest multi-room audio system to transform home audio. It fully integrates home theater with the multi-room audio experience and its Sonos interface enables streaming sources—all through a single control. With a full ecosystem of interfaces—from touch panels and remotes to mobile phones and tablets—Auriel might be the easiest system homeowners will ever use. But the Niles team took it a step farther and made configuring an Auriel system perhaps the easiest of any system on the market. More about that later.

The Auriel design was informed by feedback from users of Niles’ earlier multi-zone products and homeowners using competitive products as well. What the team heard was the need to integrate streaming sources and home theater into the whole home audio experience. Users were not happy about switching between remotes when moving from movies to music. They said, in effect, “make it simple.” So we did. The Auriel chassis delivers audio to six unique zones and handles up to six distinct input sources. For larger systems, a second Auriel chassis can be added, delivering twelve zones of audio. The source control includes two-way metadata, IP and IR control of a variety of popular devices. To make it easier on installers, Auriel includes an extensive pre-defined IR database.

The Auriel app can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play for users who want mobile phone or tablet convenience. The Auriel in-wall touch panels provide additional functionality that elevates the control experience. Both the 7” and 4” panels will instantly “awake” with the swipe of a hand to present a flyout virtual keypad of the user’s most common functions or settings. Like we say, it’s “one touch to music.” The virtual keypad can be customized so that a single touch sets the source, volume, etc., for your favorite music. For some zones, simpler functionality is all that’s needed and a Niles 7-button keypad will deliver the necessary control.

Auriel delivers a seamless and easy audio solution for users, but the Niles team has made it easy for installers as well. We listened to dealers, who almost universally say they’d like a system that’s easier to install. So the team created a wizard-based configurator, which replaces hours of programming for competitive systems with a tablet-enabled tool to configure sources, zones, macros, user interfaces and user favorites in minutes. To quote one of our dealers on a recent project “The Niles Auriel system literally took 30 minutes to install and five minutes to program right from my iPad.”

When matched with speakers like the CM8HD High Def 8” in-ceiling or HD8R Hi-Def in-wall models, it’s a winning combination. Add an amplified zone or two outdoors with Niles rock speakers and take the party outside, controlling the audio from a smartphone.

Niles Audio will be demonstrating Auriel at ISE at Stand 1-N53.
