Remote Technologies Incorporated (RTI) recently outfitted the Lone Survivor Foundation's (LSF) new Crystal Beach Retreat Facility with a hybrid commercial/residential automation system. Designed and installed by Imagine That Audio & Video Design, the system allows staff members and retreat attendees to select and control a wide range of electronics at the touch of a button.

Located in Crystal Beach, Texas, the 5,089-square-foot, two-building facility is the first permanent, Foundation-owned retreat where service members, veterans, and their families can relax in a serene environment while participating in therapeutic and educational programs offered by the Lone Survivor Foundation. Opened in April 2015, the retreat is integrated with technology donations from leading manufacturers such as Access Networks, Snap AV, Kaleidescape, Venstar, Middle Atlantic, and more. The facility's RTI control systems allow users to seamlessly select and control the facilities' HVAC and lighting systems, streaming music, a laser-shot simulation system, as well as a long list of A/V equipment and peripherals.
"Our goal was to make control within the LSF facility as simple as possible in order to meet the accessibility requirements of recovering veterans. We're very fortunate that a number of top technology companies, including RTI, made contributions in order to ensure that the project was successful," said Luke Dixon, owner at Imagine That Audio & Video Design. "RTI's generous donation of control solutions allowed us to integrate completely customized systems that are not only intuitive but simple for anyone to use."
The LSF control system consists of two identical RTI automation solutions, including RTI XP-6 control processors, KX7 in-wall touchpanels, and SURFiR handheld remotes, installed within the Crystal Beach location's Soldier Bunk House and Conference Center/Staff House. Using RTI's Integration Designer programming software, Dixon was able to customise the KX7 in-wall touchpanels in order to create a user-friendly GUI accommodating the needs of recovering service members.

"RTI is honored to have our control solutions play a role, along with so many of our industry partners, in the Lone Survivor Foundation's new Crystal Beach Retreat Facility," said Brett Stokke, director of communications, RTI. "This is an important project, and we are pleased that Imagine That AV was able to leverage our technology to provide guests and staff with simple, intuitive control throughout the facility."
