Women in Consumer Electronics (CE), an industry organisation focused on empowering women, building networks, and supporting career opportunities in the consumer electronics industry, has announced a new attendance record for the seventh straight year for its annual gathering at CEDIA EXPO. The breakfast featured a discussion entitled "Impact of Women on the Culture of CE," prepared by award-winning journalist Andrea Smith and presented by Women in CE founder Carol Campbell.
"We couldn't be more pleased with the turnout at our CEDIA breakfast event," said Campbell. "Thanks to the continued support of our volunteers, sponsors, and attendees, our annual gathering has become a CEDIA staple and continues to grow each year. Our panelists shared insights into how women are shaping the industry, and we were able to recognize two 'volunteers of the year' for their tremendous support and ongoing contributions to our organisation."

"Impact of Women on the Culture of CE" featured industry panelists who shared their career experiences and explored the evolving role of women in the custom installation space. Participants included Heather L. Sidorowicz of Southtown Audio Video, Sheri Griffith of Home Theater Design Group, Marla Suttenberg of Sapphire Marketing, and Tabatha O'Connor of CEDIA. Audience member participation was also part of the discussion.
As part of the program, Women in CE recognised two members for their invaluable contributions to the organisation this year. Ami Wright of One Firefly and Samantha Smith, Portfolio Non-Executive Director, were honored with Volunteer of the Year awards. Wright and Smith have been the driving forces behind several successful educational and mentoring initiatives, including the organization's latest initiative, Women in CE Connect, which aims to create a community that supports and encourages women to achieve their ambitions. The program groups participants for regular sessions where they can openly discuss professional growth issues — working together to tackle topics in order to impact the conditions and career trajectories of its participants.
Established in 2009, Women in CE creates an environment that promotes networking and professional growth through the development of relationships and new opportunities. Member benefits include peer networking online and at live events including the annual Women in CE leadership forum, discounts for Women in CE events, admission to the Mentoring Program, and access to both the Women in CE Member Directory and all communications.
Upcoming Women in CE events include the CES 2016 Legacy Awards and Networking Reception being held on Jan. 6, 2016, as well as the Women in CE Career Enhancement Forum during CE Week set for June 21, 2016.
