The zigbee alliance has announced that it will focus on highlighting its offerings for a unified Internet of Things at this week’s CES 2017 with the first prototypes of Thread products speaking the alliance’s universal language for IoT – ‘dotdot.’
The alliance’s booth at CES will focus on highlighting its latest 3.0 products and developments solutions and dotdot – making it possible for smart objects to work together on any network. Members of the zigbee alliance and Thread Group will furthermore use the show as a platform for the first demonstrations of dotdot devices running over Thread’s IP-based networks (featuring companies including Nortex and Zen Thermostat).
dotdot is an open, mature technology supported by the zigbee alliance’s 400+ membership and global supply chain.
“dotdot represents the next chapter in the zigbee alliance’s continued commitment to create and evolve open standards for the smart networks in our homes, businesses and neighbourhoods,” commented Tobin Richardson, zigbee alliance President and CEO. The zigbee alliance will be announcing more details about dotdot, including specifications, certification, and logo program, as 2017 progresses. Devices from several alliance member companies will be on display at CES 2017 at booth #40920 in the Sands Expo (Tech West), accompanied by dotdot over Thread demonstrations.
