A new UK castle is putting smart home on the map with energy saving technologies, which will be the subject of an upcoming documentary.
The first castle to be built in a century, the Warwickshire project showcases smart energy management from startup Tewke and will feature in Channel 4’s Grand Designs on Oct 29.
The tech company introduces its intelligent ‘Tap’ light switch (pictured above) in the concept, adding bespoke mood settings and intuitive AI to lighting energy usage.
Piers Daniell, founder of Tewke, said: “The castle has been a four-year project for myself and my family that encompasses my vision for a smarter energy future."
‘Tap’ helps users track real-time energy pricing and time their decisions to run consumables at a lower cost.

Daniell is dedicated to changing when households use energy and increasing the use of renewable sources to balance the grid.
He added: “I am delighted that we can share this historical build with all and highlight the important message behind the project. I believe small changes can make a big difference.”
