Xfinity xFi Advanced Security is the new AI-powered service from Comcast that protects connected devices in the smart home network by monitoring, blocking and notifying users of online threats.
The need for advanced security is growing exponentially with more and more consumers possessing several connected devices. According to Symantec, the number of attacks against IoT devices increased by 600 per cent between 2016 and 2017 with this number thought to be rising.
The Xfinity xFi Advanced Security is designed to help deal with this growing issue. It uses AI and machine learning technology to monitor and analyse WiFi traffic in the home and when it identifies any suspicious activity, it blocks it in real time and notifies the home owner of these threats via a user interface. It will also instruct users on how to further secure any affected devices where necessary.
With no required set-up, the xFi Advanced Security service works immediately once the device is switched on. The service automatically protects any device connected to the home network wirelessly or by ethernet.
The technology behind xFi Advanced Security is fully integrated into xFi Gateways making it possible to view a list of any threats and action taken from the day on the xFi dashboard on the mobile app or online.
Xfinity xFi Advanced Security service is available to Comcast customers with an xFi Gateway.
