Onkyo & Pioneer Corporation has released a firmware update that activates IMAX Enhanced and Dolby Atmos Height Virtualiser on selected Onkyo network AV receiver models.
Available on the TX-RZ840 and the TX-RZ740 Onkyo network AV receivers, the Height Virtualiser will help to reproduce the content just as the filmmakers intended.
Combining a TV with an IMAX Enhanced certified Network AV Receiver that is optimised to reproduce the full-dynamic-range IMAX signature sound experience in the home, cinephiles can enjoy IMAX Enhanced content high levels.
Dolby Atmos Height Virtualiser, the latest surround sound technology developed by Dolby Laboratories, enables immersive listening with Dolby formats by creating a virtual surround and height effect from traditional speaker layouts. Now Dolby Atmos can be enjoyed without height speakers or Dolby Atmos-enabled speakers in layouts featuring more than two channels.
The firmware can be downloaded and installed directly on network-connected components, or downloaded to a USB from the Onkyo website and installed via the receiver’s USB input.
