Marantz introduces reimagined classic integrated amplifier

Marantz has today launched its MODEL 40n integrated amplifier, featuring a ‘just add speakers’ design which also gives easy access to a vast library of digital music, podcasts and more.

With the new amplifier, the company wanted to create something that would provide sound equal to or better than what audiophiles have sought after for years with stacks of complicated equipment. Marantz believes this has been achieved with the MODEL 40n, as Joel Sietsema, Marantz president, commented: “I strongly believe you don’t have to be an audiophile to enjoy rich, warm sound. With our MODEL 40n, we’ve further perfected the balance between what we’re known for – our sound – with added simplicity, gorgeous design, modern upgrades, and power. This product is truly ideal for those who require excellent performance yet find elegance in simplicity and ease of use.”

For elevated amplification, the MODEL 40n features a new 70 watt per channel Class A/B amplifier stage which exceeds the performance of earlier models with similar power ratings. A larger power supply transformer, four output transistors per channel, heavy copper bus bars, and very short power pathways lower internal impedance and deliver high instant current capability.

To maximise performance, the finest components were used by Marantz Sound Masters when building the amplifier. The MODEL 40n leverages the company’s proprietary Hyper-Dynamix Amplifier Modules (HDAMs) that deliver the most musical sound possible, from precise bass transients to smooth, balanced midrange and high frequencies from any connected loudspeaker. Using curated discrete surface mount components and the shortest possible signal paths, the HDAMs inside the amplifier have been engineered to deliver the highest-quality sound.

The single unit can be connected to speakers of the user’s choice and has built-in access to Spotify Connect, Amazon Music, Tidal, TuneIn internet radio and many more. The MODEL 40n also provides access to personal file libraries, up to PCM 192kHz / 24 bit as well as DSD up to 5.6 MHz. Apple AirPlay 2, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi with HEOS Built-In are the wireless connectivity options available.

Offering a full range of analogue and digital inputs, the MODEL 40n integrated amplifier can accommodate various sources, including the Marantz Musical Phono EQ, a moving magnet phono stage for vinyl playback. Often uncommon for products in this category, the amplifier also features an HDMI ARC input to allow audio playback from a TV. A dedicated subwoofer output with crossover adjustments enables users to optimise bass response for any listening room.

The MODEL 40n integrated amplifier has been designed to work as the primary hub for one or multiple rooms. Thanks to HEOS Built-In technology, users can enjoy wireless audio in all rooms throughout the home. The same audio content can be played throughout the house or different songs can be selected for each connected room by adding HEOS-capable speakers throughout the home. This is not only for streaming services, but any input on the amplifier, including the phono stage.

For intuitive user experiences, the amplifier comes with a remote control and also works with Siri, Alexa and Google voice command.

The Marantz MODEL 40n Integrated Amplifier will be available in Marantz Black or Silver Gold. Available from March, it is priced at £2,199 / €2,499 / $2,499.
