A new smart pergola has hit headlines for its central integrated control system, making headway for modular room solutions with a low environmental footprint.
The Ombra fully integrates adjustable solar panels, ambient lighting and more to advance the traditional garden setup.
Debuting at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in 2024, the mobile space benefits from patented in-built air conditioning as well as rain and wind sensing technology.
The Ombra, developed by R&D company SolarYard owned by LetRight, can be assembled in two days without the need for a foundation.
The off-the-shelf concept offers an interesting proposition for custom installers looking to streamline costs and waste as outdoor living becomes more popular.

In an official statement at CIIE, Ren Li, founder and chairman of the Sunny Pioneer Ltd (also owned by LetRight), said: "This is a product that will fundamentally change the way people live outdoors."
A technologically sound and weatherproof way to extend domestic spaces into nature, the unit presents itself as both a residential and commercial solution for open-air activities.
According to its website, the Ombra provides a wellness space where 'indoors and outdoors meet and merge' using bioclimatic architecture.
