Nortek Control has added multiple new Proficient subwoofers to its collection, bringing its 2021 subwoofer offerings to a total of nine.
Joining the Proficient Protege Series, the comprehensive collection of new Proficient subwoofers have taken design and engineering inspirations from the Sunfire subwoofers to deliver superior sound and offer a range from value-added models to the ultimate in sound performance.
Building on the legacy of the innovative Sunfire subwoofer designs, the new Proficient models feature triple drivers with rich, deep bass ideally suited to home cinemas and listening rooms.
Within the Proficient Reference Series, Nortek Control has introduced a new flagship model, the FTEQ-12 Subwoofer, offering deep bass and high power. Its dual active Kevlar High Back-EMF drivers are mounted in a perfectly opposed configuration to cancel out cabinet vibrations and transfer all the energy into the room for powerful bass output. Each driver is powered by its own 1000W amplifier enabling the subwoofer to play frequencies down to 17Hz.
To match its premium setting, the flagship FTEQ-12 Subwoofer is finished in a piano black lacquer.
The other new additions have been made to the Proficient Signature Series to include three new subwoofer models, the FRS-8, FRS-10 and FRS-12. Also offered in a piano black lacquer finish, the new Proficient FRS Signature Series Subwoofers feature a space-efficient but high-powered design to deliver both elegance and performance. High-Excursion Fibreglass Cones are included in the Proficient FRS Subwoofer models, measuring 8, 10 and 12-inches, depending on the model.
The automated setup makes it fast and easy to configure the EQ settings with the new Proficient Sub Station app, and automatically corrects for acoustic room anomalies. As Jeff Shaw, Nortek Control’s senior director of product management explained: “This allows dealers the total freedom to place them anywhere in a room to create a heart-pounding, totally immersive listening experience.”

The Proficient Protege, Signature, and Reference Series Subwoofers are available from June and July.
