Optoma’s smart 4K UHD home projectors now compatible with Google Assistant & IFTTT

Google Assistant can now be used on Optoma’s smart 4K UHD home projectors in the UK, joining the already existing Alexa functionality. It has also been announced that the projectors are now IFTTT (If This Then That) compatible.

The projectors – UHL55, UHD51A, UHD51ALVe, and the forthcoming UHZ65UST, due to launch this summer – will now be compatible with both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, allowing users to control their home cinemas through voice commands using a Google or Amazon platform.

As voice assistants continue to expand their presence and function in smart homes, Optoma is enabling home cinema enthusiasts to integrate large-screen imagery into smart homes, tying in with speakers, screens, lighting and more.

In addition, the projectors are also now compatible with IFTTT, giving homeowners the ability to make their home cinemas even more automated. The free web-based service allows users to create chains of simple conditional statements, called applets. Applets are then used to trigger events such as getting a projector to turn off when you leave the house or dimming lights when the projector is switched on.
