Pioneer intros 4K HDR-ready AV receiver

Pioneer has announced that its latest multi-room AV receiver offers 4K HDR video support, in addition to pro-calibrated DTS:X and Dolby Atmos sound.

The VSX-933, a 7.2-channel network AV receiver is designed to bring immersive 5.2.2-ch Dolby Atmos and DTS:X cinema sound precision-calibrated by MCACC technology to the family or media room.

It’s equipped to suit 4K/60p-ready media players, TV displays, and projectors with pass-through support for HDR10, HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma), Dolby Vision, and BT.2020 colour space via HDCP 2.2-compliant HDMI terminals.

Power is delivered via Pioneer's Direct Energy Amplification, with a number of inputs (including HDMI and a phono support) on offer for hi-res audio and pure analogue sources.

The VSX-933 comes with support with various platforms for multi-room audio (including Chromecast built-in, DTS Play-Fi technology and FlareConnect), which work over 5 GHz/2.4 GHz Wi-Fi3 and can be managed via smartphone or tablet. Streaming services such as Amazon Music, Spotify, Tidal and Deezer are also supported.

Pioneer’s latest receiver also features 135 W/ch (6 ohms, 1 kHz, THD 1.0 %, 1-in Driven) and has an ‘ECO’ mode for conserving energy use.

The VSX-933 will be released in March, available in black or silver.
