Polk Audio has revealed its latest smart soundbar offering, Polk React, which offers Dolby Digital, DTS 5.1 virtual surround sound and Alexa Built-In.
The high-performance soundbar can be used as a standalone soundbar or it can be paired with Polk Audio SR2 wireless rear surround speakers and/or React Sub wireless subwoofer for a full 5.1 surround system.
However, Polk React is optimised to get the most out of Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 so that dedicated rear speakers are not necessarily required for the surround sound home theatre experience.
Through its long partnership with Amazon, React is the most advanced Alexa-enabled soundbar available, according to Polk Audio. Supporting Alexa’s Communication feature, it gives the user the ability to sync their contacts in the Alexa app and use voice commands to communicate with friends and family from the soundbar.
To hear commands clearly even at higher volumes, React has four far-field microphones and Amazon’s proprietary wake word detection and echo cancellation software to augment performance.
React can also pair with other Alexa-enabled speakers through Alexa Multi-room Music support for a whole-home audio solution.
Users can ask Alexa to play music, adjust the volume and bass levels, as well as select listening modes. Working with the smart home ecosystem, React can also act as an Alexa controller, enabling users to switch the lights on and off or control other Alexa compatible devices around the house.
React features HDMI ARC which allows easy installation and integration with TVs and remote controls for intuitive system operation and setup. Its low-profile design means it can be either wall-mounted or positioned underneath the TV on a unit without blocking any remote IR sensors.
Polk Audio’s proprietary Voice Adjust technology allows listeners to precisely tweak voice levels and make dialogue clear without need to turn volumes up. Movie Mode and Music Mode can be activated with a one-button press, and a dedicated Night Mode prevents the sound from disturbing the rest of the household of neighbours by reducing bass levels and enhancing Voice Adjust to deliver clear dialogue.
Bluetooth music streaming is also included for when users want to listen to their favourite music.
