Sony bolstered its home cinema projection line with the launch of three new 4K models - including the laser light source VPL-VW870ES - at IFA 2018 this week.
The models have 4K Motionflow, claimed to enable smoother and clear motion by adding extra frames to reduce blur and maintain brightness. The models also offer HDR (high dynamic range) images with HDMI 18 Gbps compatibility and 4K 60P 10bit processing. Input lag reduction is coupled with Reality Creation that is claimed to analyse every element of an image to provide enhanced clarity and resolution without noise.
The VPL-VW870ES is the company’s premium 4K laser light source projector. It contains the 18-piece glass All Range Crisp Focus (ARC-F) lens and “Digital Focus Optimiser”. It offers 2,200 lumens and Advanced Iris technology.
VPL-VW570ES includes features such as Picture Position Memory to change the settings for different formats including 16:9 and Cinemascope as well as high dynamic contrast by Advanced Iris. It offers 1,800 lumens of brightness with lamp and will succeed the VPL-VW360ES and VPL-VW550ES.
Sony says its VPL-VW270ES offers 4K HDR and input lag reduction at an affordable price point. It is the successor to the VPL-VW260ES and offers 1,500 lumens.
The VPL-VW570ES and the VPL-VW270ES come in black and premium white colours and have 2.06 zoom and wide lens shift.
