Sony Electronics has announced the launch of its Crystal LED display system for home installations, capable of displaying 8K HDR video content with the possibility of displaying up to 16K resolution.
A number of sizes are available, including full HD size (18 units) featuring a 110-in diagonal display, a 4K size (72 units) with a 220-in diagonal display, 8K size (288 units) with a 440-in display and a 16K size (576 units) with a 790-in display.
The display was originally offered for commercial and entertainment installations before the announcement to offer the display for residential configurations and installation.
The Crystal LED for home installation is available through a group of Sony dealers, with the product featuring support from Sony’s technical support team with additional design support resources, installation and maintenance on end users’ applications provided by Sony Electronics.
Mike Fasulo, president and chief operating officer, Sony Electronics North America said: "By offering the display in modular configurations, consumers now have an exciting new option for the transition from home projection systems and large-screen TVs."
The Crystal LED direct view display system uses micro-LED measuring 0.003mm2, with HDR with high brightness of 1,000 nits, 10 bit grayscale and frame rates up to 120p.
