Sony Europe has announced its new BRAVIA XR TV series, including MASTER Series Z9K 8K and X95K 4K Mini LED, MASTER Series A95K, MASTER Series A90K and A80K 4K OLED, and X90K 4K LED.
Powered by Cognitive Processor XR, the Z9K and X95K feature the XR Backlight Master Drive, which precisely controls the latest generation Mini LED backlight for improved brightness. The Cognitive Processor XR also powers the A95K’s new OLED panel with XR Triluminos Max, delivering Sony’s widest colour palette and reproducing natural shades and hues through its millions of individual, self-illuminating pixels.
When watching movies, the 2022 range features Sony’s enhanced Acoustic Surface Audio+ for OLED models and Acoustic Multi-Audio for LED models. The technology precisely matches the position of the sound with the images displayed on screen to make the experience more immersive.

Sony has also released new features with the line up to create a more customised experience that will enhance the home entertainment. Teaming up with Netflix, the company has launched Netflix Adaptive Calibrated Mode, which automatically adjusts image processing based on ambient light so the shows and movies are as the creator intended.
In addition to this, the new BRAVIA CORE Calibrated Mode will automatically adjust the image quality on screen to better align with the video creator’s original vision. All 2022 BRAVIA XR TVs will also be designated ‘Perfect for PlayStation 5’, which includes two PS5 exclusive features – Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode.
Alongside the new TV range, Sony has also launched a newly developed original camera device, BRAVIA CAM. The camera sits on top of the TV and recognises where users are sitting and optimises the picture and sound accordingly. It includes gesture controls, video chat and many other new user experiences.

Demand for bigger and bigger screens is increasing, and therefore, so is the risk of greater resource and energy use. Committed to sustainability from the development process through to the viewing experience, Sony’s ‘Road to Zero’ global environmental plan aims to achieve a sustainable society by reaching a zero environmental footprint throughout the life cycle of its products and business activities by 2050.
With this in mind, Sony has used high recycled plastic content with Sony-developed SORPLAS to make the 2022 TVs. By using SORPLAS, the company has increased its use of recycled material without sacrificing design and durability and reduced overall virgin plastic use by up to 60%.
Additionally, Sony’s BRAVIA CAM recognises when viewers are not in front of the TV and will dim the display to conserve energy.
