StormAudio launches Impulsion 8 Class-D AoIP power amplifier

StormAudio has introduced a multichannel amplifier reinforcing the shift toward networked, software-driven AV system design in home cinema.

Having received a Best of Show award at CEDIA Expo 2025, the Impulsion 8 combines Class-D power with native audio-over-IP (AoIP) connectivity and embedded DSP.

Olivier Thumerel, CEO at StormAudio, said: “With the Impulsion 8, we wanted to prove that you don’t need a massive footprint to achieve reference-level performance.”

Housed in a compact 2RU chassis, the amplifier delivers 200W per channel with higher output available in bridged configurations.

Additionally, AES67 and Dante protocols enable the amplifier to integrate natively into IP-based systems – creating digital installations with reduced cabling.

Further functionality is expected later in 2026 with full DSP integration “directly at the amplifier level”, including PEQ, FIR filtering and speaker management.

The Impulsion 8 aims to integrate tightly with the StormAudio ecosystem: for example, when paired with a StormAudio processor, the amplifier is automatically detected and configured to reduce setup time.

Through StormMonitoring, integrators also benefit from real-time visibility of the amplifier’s status via its embedded WebUI.

Demonstrated at ISE 2026, the Impulsion 8 is scheduled to begin shipping in April 2026.
