German company Viessmann has unveiled a new air-to-water heat pump, positioned as part of a broader move toward fully integrated residential energy systems.
Launched at the InstallerSHOW in Birmingham on June 23-25, the Vitocal 200-A ie (intelligent energy) monobloc unit is the first of a new generation of products built on the company’s One Base Intelligence: a platform aiming to unify heating, power and EV systems in a single control environment.
It’s presented to homeowners via the ViCare app, which aggregates data such as energy consumption and room-level control, to position the heat pump as another node in the smart home environment.
Central to this approach is the new Universal Controller ie, which automates energy optimisation against time-of-use tariffs and dynamic electricity pricing.

Notably, Viessmann says the controller can also operate as a standalone control unit to integrate with third-party heat pumps and air conditioners.
This interoperability is likely to be of interest to integrators looking to bridge HVAC, renewables and smart home platforms without relying on multiple gateways or accessories.
Cameron Beech, head of product management & training at Viessmann Climate Solutions UK, said: “Instead of installing individual products within a system, we’re offering a simple, expandable and updatable overall ecosystem, open to components, controls and tariffs of the customer’s choice.”

Described as self-learning, the platform adjusts energy flows across connected components while OTA (Over-The-Air) updates add new functionality over time.
Beech added that opening the company’s ecosystem to third-party providers helps accelerate the energy transition to renewable and affordable electrical systems.
The product is scheduled to become available in the UK in autumn 2026.
