Onkyo marks 80th anniversary with MUSE and CREATOR editions at Audio Advice Live

Onkyo used Audio Advice Live 2026 last week to showcase a range of 80th anniversary products, continuing to expand its traditional AV receiver portfolio with a stronger focus on streaming audio.

Founded in 1946, Onkyo is marking its 80th anniversary this year with products including special editions of its MUSE and CREATOR Series lines.

The anniversary models draw on design elements from historic Onkyo products, incorporating classic components while adding contemporary streaming, connectivity and DSP technologies.

MUSE Y-50 amplifier references Integra heritage

The centrepiece of the anniversary range is the MUSE Y-50 Network Integrated Amplifier Anniversary Edition, whose design takes inspiration from Onkyo's Integra-era products - particularly the M-588 power amplifier.

Features include Bordeaux walnut side panels, a champagne-gold aluminium fascia and a 5.46-inch colour display showing playback information and VU meters.

The amplifier is rated at 250W into 4-ohm speakers and uses an Axign Class D amplification stage with MOSFET output devices.

Connectivity is likely to be a key consideration for installers: the Y-50 includes analogue RCA, coaxial digital, HDMI and HDMI ARC, Ethernet, Wi-Fi and MM/MC phono inputs.

Streaming support covers Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, AirPlay 2, Google Cast and Qplay.

Onkyo has also developed a dedicated room-calibration platform for the MUSE Series.

CREATOR powered monitors target desktop and lifestyle audio

Alongside the MUSE amplifier, Onkyo has introduced anniversary editions of its GX-30ARC and GX-10DB powered monitors under the CREATOR Series banner.

The speakers reference the company's D-200 Liverpool monitors from 1987, with textured black baffles, dark silver trim details and walnut-finished cabinets.

Aimed at desktop, media and multipurpose audio applications, both models employ Class D amplification, DSP processing and bi-amplified driver configurations, with separate amplification for tweeter and woofer sections.

Connectivity includes Bluetooth 5.3, USB-C, optical, RCA/phono and AUX inputs, together with subwoofer outputs.

The larger GX-30ARC model additionally offers HDMI ARC connectivity for more versatile entertainment integration.

The speakers come with angled ABS-resin stands, intended to improve positioning and reduce cabinet resonance.

Wider product strategy

The anniversary launches form part of a broader effort by Onkyo to extend its presence beyond home cinema electronics, with a growing focus on streaming, desktop and lifestyle-oriented audio products.

This direction may be of particular interest to residential integrators seeking streaming-enabled audio solutions for media rooms, home offices and secondary listening spaces.
