Hisense has become the first TV manufacturer to bring Dolby Vision 2 to market, with the technology rolling out to select 2026 models via firmware update.
The development spans Hisense's 2026 RGB MiniLED portfolio, including the U7S PRO Smart TV running VIDAA OS, and marks the first major update to Dolby Vision in more than a decade.
According to Hisense, Dolby Vision 2 introduces a new Image Engine delivering frame-by-frame optimisation of brightness and contrast, as well as other features that adapt picture performance to both content characteristics and viewing conditions in real time.
These include Content Intelligence, Precision Black and Light Sense, which automatically adjust the picture in line with ambient lighting conditions.
The features may prove particularly useful in multipurpose living spaces, where changing light conditions can affect perceived image quality.
The technology also reinforces the appeal of automated picture optimisation that complements, rather than replaces, professional calibration.
As the first phase of a broader rollout, Dolby says entertainment platforms including CANAL+, iQIYI and Peacock have committed to the expanded capabilities of Dolby Vision 2.
Meanwhile, television manufacturer Hisense says Dolby Vision 2 Max, available on its supported models, adds Authentic Motion and Pro settings to this offering.
Described as a “bridge between the creative suite and viewer's living room”, Authentic Motion is designed to deliver more natural, creator-intended motion while reducing judder and blur.
Additionally, the Pro settings offer greater control over display performance.
Light Sense 2, also available to Max users, further optimises the image by adapting to ambient room lighting.
