Lyngdorf Audio has launched the D-60 C, a high-performance in-wall speaker, which can be used as a centre channel or high-performance solution for all front channels.
Complementing the D-60 introduced last year, the D-60 C is the seventh product to join the company’s Discreet series for custom installations in home cinemas, media rooms and living rooms. It features the Discreet series’ highest power handling, a high sensitivity and very high achievable sound pressure level.
Highest performance
The new CI speaker gives the highest performance in the Discreet series, with the midrange driver positioned closely below the tweeter as well as a powerful midrange driver and two woofers. The tweeter/midrange and the woofer will be driven by their own amplifier channel using an active digital crossover in the AV processor to ensure the frequency split and the phase relationship between midrange and bass is done in the best way to avoid typical issues in phase, sound dispersion, and frequency response.
The D-60 C is equipped with a powerful soft dome tweeter and a midrange driver with a strong neodymium magnet, while the two woofers have vented magnets and vented die-cast baskets. Its inverted surround allows a flat speaker front and space-saving mounting depth.
The tweeter/midrange unit and the woofers are driven by an active bi-amping crossover design to achieve the best sound performance, frequency balance, and sound dispersion.
The speaker covers frequencies from 22 kHz down to 80 Hz (-3dB) and is intended to be used with additional woofers for the LFE and bass.
As with all speakers from the Discreet series, the D-60 C comes with its own pre-mounted loudspeaker enclosure, so that no after-market backbox or closed wall cavity is required, and a defined and consistent sound performance can be ensured in different rooms and wall constructions.
The D-60 C incorporates a high-quality, low-resonance MDF enclosure, finished in matte black and covered with a white, paintable grill held on with a magnet.
