Lyngdorf Audio introduces three new loudspeakers for CI market

ISE 2023 saw Lyngdorf Audio extend its product portfolio with new loudspeaker offerings designed for living rooms and custom installations.

The newly unveiled products consisted of the Lyngdorf Cue-100, a high-end audio design loudspeaker with the latest speaker technology; the Lyngdorf D-60, a high-performance custom installation in-wall speaker; and the Lyngdorf CS-2, the second model specifically designed for placement inside furniture.

Cue-100

The Cue-100 (pictured above) is a high-end audio loudspeaker merging modern Danish design with the latest Purifi speaker technology. The Purifi aluminium drivers are integrated in a uniquely shaped cabinet, finished in satin-black or satin-white with solid oak elements, and available with a selection of five all-around fabric covers by Gabriel from Denmark.

When using the Cue-100 together with Lyngdorf’s own digital amplifiers, the RoomPerfect Technology calibrates the speaker acoustically to the room, always achieving the best possible sound performance in a given room and for every speaker placement.

Designed as a high-end two-way speakers, the Cue-100 can also be combined with high-end amplifiers from other manufacturers.

“We always want to make the best performance available to our customers,” said Thomas Birkelund, CTO and CEO. “We think the components used in this speaker are currently the best on the market and we have developed a loudspeaker with a design that we think fits the performance of the speaker.”

Production of the Cue-100 has started, and the loudspeaker will be available from March 2023.

CS-2

Also introduced from Lyngdorf Audio is the CS-2 loudspeaker, a new addition to the CS-1 which was launched earlier and is specifically designed to fit furniture which is less deep.

With a front-ported bass reflex enclosure, an angled and elevated tweeter, and no front cover, the CS-2 speaker has been specifically designed to perform best when placed inside sideboards and audio furniture, for example below a TV.

For best sound performance, the Lyngdorf CS-2 is based on the same midrange/bass driver and tweeter as the successful CS-1, with the overall construction and sound tuning specifically designed for placement inside furniture.

Due to the front-ported bass reflex and a frequency range linear down to 42 Hz, the CS-2 does not need the support of a subwoofer. The powerful 6.5” midrange/bass driver is designed with a very strong magnet and together with the bass reflex tuning the low-frequency performance is surprisingly powerful for such a small speaker.

The soft dome tweeter is mounted both elevated and angled. This special tweeter placement reduces sound diffractions from furniture edges inside a cabinet and also improves sound radiation toward the listening area, with a degree of toe-in common with conventional, free-standing stereo speakers.

The Lyngdorf CS-2 is based on the CS-1 but with different enclosure dimensions to fit more shallow furniture designs. While both speakers provide the same sound performance, the new CS-2 has a less deep enclosure, measuring 20cm / 7.9”, compared to the CS-1’s 30cm / 11.6”.

The enclosure is a solid MDF construction with a durable and easy to clean matte-black lacquer. Self-adhesive rubber pads are supplied to prevent any scratches on the furniture surface and to absorb resonance between furniture and speaker. The CS-2 comes without any front cover to allow for the clearest sound performance when placed behind the fabric doors of TV sideboards and other audio furniture.

The CS-2 is available from April 2023.

D-60

The fifth product to be added to the company’s Discreet series designed for custom installations, the D-60 is a high-performance in-wall speaker with the Discreet series’ highest power handling, sensitivity, and achievable sound pressure level.

The Lyngdorf Discreet series was first introduced in 2021 with the D-500, D-500 Centre, D-5 and D-5 IC for home cinemas as well as living room installations, complemented by the LS-1000 line-source speakers and BW-20 boundary woofer.

The D-60 has been designed as a high-performance in-wall speaker to be used for front channels with additional woofers as well as for surround channels. It offers the Discreet series’ highest power handling (200 W, IEC), sensitivity (92 dB 2.83 v/ 1m), and achievable sound pressure level (112 dB). The D-60 is therefore the ideal choice for high-performance home cinemas and larger rooms, as well as for completing the outstanding Lyngdorf LS-1000 line source speakers with surround speakers on a similar performance level.

The D-60 is equipped with a more powerful soft dome tweeter compared to the D-500 in-wall speaker, featuring a much stronger magnet. The two 18cm / 7” aluminium midrange drivers are equipped with vented magnets and vented die-cast brackets, while the inverted surround allows a flat speaker front and space-saving cabinet depth. The tweeter and both midrange units are driven by the chosen amplifier using a two-way-crossover design.

The new D-60 covers frequencies from 22 kHz down to 80 Hz (-3dB) and is intended to be used with additional woofers for the LFE and bass, for example the Lyngdorf BW-20. In comparison, the D-500 with one midrange driver and two additional passive woofers reaches below 50Hz (-3dB), allowing to use it as a full range speaker, for example left and right of a TV.

All speakers from the Lyngdorf Discreet series comes with their own pre-mounted loudspeaker enclosure, so that no after-market backbox or closed wall cavity is required, and a defined and consistent sound performance can be ensured in different rooms and wall constructions. The D-60 is designed with a high-quality, low-resonance MDF enclosure, finished in matte black and covered by a white, magnetically held front grill.

The D-60 production has started at Lyngdrof Audio and will be available from March 2023.
