SMART66 & SMART64 are a fusion of DECT home phones and Android Wi-Fi touch-screen tablets
Since cutting of the cord of classic phones almost 30 years ago the classic cordless home phone has seen little innovation. While the mobile phone migrated to smart phone, the home phone remained a voice only device. Binatone set to change this and was the first to introduce an Android home phone in 2010.
Binatone introduces with the SMART66 the biggest Android smart home phone ever, with a 6" touch screen. This addition follows the 4" Android Home Phone SMART64 which had already been presented in September 2013. Retail versions of the phones will be available under iDECT in the UK and under AEG in Europe and Asia. Various operators are also set to launch them under their own brands, with Turk Telekom already having released their E4.
SMART66
SMART66 is the biggest Android Home Phone yet, a phone that can be proudly called a Home Phablet – a combination of DECT home phone with an Android Wi-Fi multi-touch tablet. SMART66 runs Google certified Android OS Jelly Bean and comes pre-loaded with free apps. It features a powerful dual core CPU running at 1.3 GHz and includes connectivity to DECT, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth (BLE). SMART66 provides a perfect device for fixed line and broadband Telco operator services that can run any preinstalled or downloaded apps.
SMART64
The SMART64 has all the same great features, from a more compact 4" screen. Preloaded with various apps it is the communication hub for the entire family. Turk Telekom, Turkey's largest telco, has already successfully launched their E4, a customized version of Binatone's SMART64. E4 comes loaded with TTs own apps such as IPTV and Music Download. Similarly all SMART phones of Binatone can be customized to the configuration of any TelCo.
CONNECTED HOME
Both the SMART64 and SMART66 have built-in PSTN, DECT, Wi-Fi and Smart Bluetooth technology enabling to interface with the "connected home" and remotely control compatible accessory devices and appliances.
Binatone Chairman Dino Lalvani explains the company's vision on innovating the home phone segment and the internet of things: "Our longer term vision for the SMART series goes way beyond just offering landline and VoIP calls in one device. Our SMART phablet will be a means to control other devices around the house such as lights, locks, thermostats, smart TVs, and even video monitoring cameras – making the SMART64 or SMART66 communications command centers for today's busy families."
Both phones will be available in European markets from June 2014 onwards.
Binatone is showcasing both phones at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona in Hall 7 Booth 7F 81.
