Aged only 50, Bob was a pioneer in the development of our industry. Together with Barry Copeland, Bob founded Prestige Audio in 1984 and the company has been creating incredible, award-winning home cinemas and integrated, whole-house systems ever since.
Bob was completely dedicated in everything he did. This commitment was the foundation of his success in his business, his involvement in CEDIA but also personally. His cycling was a classic example of this quiet determination – when he put his mind to something he gave it everything. Proof of this dedication was that Bob had just been chosen for the Over 50’s GB Cycle.
“Bob’s death is a terrible tragedy,†says Wendy Griffiths, Executive Director of CEDIA EMEA. “Whenever his name was mentioned it was accompanied with the utmost respect and usually an unprompted comment relating to his lovely nature and his fitness level. His death has come as a huge shock to everyone but none more-so than his family. Our thoughts are with his wife Wendy, his children and the rest of his family and friends at this difficult time.
“I had the pleasure of working with Bob for a number of years when he was a volunteer member of the CEDIA Expo committee back when I first joined CEDIA. I remember fondly how, despite not being overly vocal, he had this wonderful way of leading the discussion and making his every considered observation count. We have lost an industry great, a dear friend and a valued colleague, who will be missed by everyone who knew him.â€
Details regarding his memorial are as follows: 2pm Wednesday 9th September, West Herts Crematorium, High Elms Lane, Garton WD25 0JS. All those who knew Bob are welcome to join his family in celebrating his life.
