Dean Hartley, of UK-based speaker manufacturer Monitor Audio, has announced his retirement from the industry after a 21-year stint at the company as technical director.
After more than 20 years of service, Dean Hartley will step down from his position at Monitor Audio, effective immediately.
Hartley is renowned for leading on the design and development of numerous loudspeaker technologies at the Essex-based manufacturer, and introduced driver concepts and materials which paved the way for building acclaimed lines of loudspeakers including the Silver Series and Platinum range.
Under his leadership, Monitor Audio’s design team has grown from one to twenty people, and the manufacturer notes that “his appointments are ready to build upon Dean’s legacy.” Staff including product design director, Charles Minett, are on hand to continue his work after working closely with Hartley on the development of Monitor Audio’s Studio loudspeakers.
Minett will work alongside Michael Hedges, who rejoins Monitor Audio (after a 2 and a half years working on Jaguar Land Rover’s Infotainment team) to take up the vacant position of technical director at the company.
In a statement, the manufacturer commented: “With the team that Dean has built, together with the appointment of Michael, Monitor Audio is well placed to continue to produce award-winning loudspeakers.”
