A new beta update has been rolled out to the PlayStation 5 which adds personalised 3D audio profiles for headphones and earbuds, enhancing the immersive quality of its games.
The console creates a personalised spatial audio profile by running the user through a set of sound quality tests to analyse a vast number of factors to create a profile that best fits the user’s hearing characteristics.
While making the gaming experience more immersive, 3D audio will enable users to better sense the position of characters and objects.
Each user can build their own audio profile for their headphones or earbuds and can also still select from 3D audio presets that were available before.
Since its launch, Sony has introduced other 3D audio enhancements, including 3D audio support for built-in TV speakers and support for compatible Dolby Atmos-enabled audio devices. Adding 3D audio enhancements gives users additional option to immerse themselves in a variety of soundscapes in PS5 games, powered by Tempest 3D AudioTech.
