Stand 5-U72, ISE 2014
Launching in the UK is QMotion UK; the supplier of innovative, automated shading systems for residential, commercial and hospitality spaces that can operate wirelessly. Originating from the USA, these patented window treatments are the first and only automated shades with a manual override option for dual control. The ideal solution for specifiers and installers renovating and refitting window treatments, the flexible QMotion shading solution offers a revolutionary concept that allows complete management and quiet operation of shades in a single room or multiple areas of a building, all at the touch of a button via remote or an iOS or Android device. A uniquely engineered product, it is also compatible to integrate seamlessly into building or home automation control systems to ensure high-performance in any environment.
QMotion UK’s pioneering automated wireless systems are battery powered with readily available D cell Alkaline recyclable batteries that provide an elite battery life and operation for up to five years based on a daily average of four movement cycles. The batteries are discreetly concealed and easily accessible inside the tube, while the roller shade bracketing is slim and unobtrusive. This makes QMotion’s wireless systems more attractive than others, but also reduces the side light gaps to an industry-leading 13mm on each side for a symmetrical window coverage and improved block of light.
Fitting is simple with a compact shade tube and bracket construction, allowing installers to fit window treatments efficiently with ease without the need of re-wiring and exposed wires or RF antennas on display like other motorised window coverings require. The QMotion superior wireless motorisation with reliable fingertip control technology has a simple set up after installation that can be programmed to learn the window’s height in one simple step and deliver personalised alignments. This advanced system also includes a built-in safety stop braking system that prevents the shade from passing over the top when rising.
Clients can choose from a comprehensive collection light filtering and blackout shading fabrics in a wealth of plain materials or decorative patterns, while a selection of 5 standard fascia colours are available to conceal the shade system and suit individual requirements. The shade fabric is attached to the shade tube with a snap-on spline, allowing these to be easily replaced or removed for cleaning purposes.
QMotion UK will be exhibiting for the very first time at the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) trade show in Amsterdam RAL, NL, 4 -6 February 2014.
Ian Claxton, Director at QMotion UK gives his take on ISE 2014 and industry trends:
Tell us why you have chosen to exhibit at ISE for the first time in 2014?
QMotion UK is now ready to set a new benchmark for automated wireless free window treatments in the European market by making the full QMotion range readily available. With over 45,000 attendees expected from 140 countries, ISE will provide QMotion UK with a strong platform to launch this pioneering product in front of industry professionals that operate within the AV integrator sector. This is the first time that QMotion UK will be exhibiting in Europe so it’s a significant trade show for us to showcase our advanced technology and confidently position the QMotion range to a sizeable network; building on opportunities with key influencers that will allow us to develop a quality portfolio of distributors across Europe.
What will you be showing at ISE 2014?
ISE will see the exciting arrival of QMotion’s automated wireless shading systems into the European market with an official launch of QMotion UK’s product range and offerings. The QMotion roller shades will be the main focus, with an intention to attract and inspire integrators through fully operational shading demonstrations on the stand. With QMotion UK’s unique offering, no hard wiring is required by the integrator during shade installation so this saves time and also the need for reconfiguration of walls as well as wires or RF antennas on display.
A uniquely engineered product, it is also compatible to integrate seamlessly into building or home automation control systems to ensure high-performance in any environment. Whether its dry contacts, RS232 or RS485, our one stop box Qconnect can serve all of these protocols. We’ll be highlighting a wealth of revolutionary elements to attendees that visit the QMotion UK, educating them in full on its smart and convenient fingertip control technology.
QMotion UK will also showcase its brand new Drapery Track system and Honeycomb collection that carries forward patented technology and award-winning dual control features of our wireless roller shade products. Honeycomb also provides versatile usage with its advanced fabrics that supply an excellent thermal barrier to ensure shading solutions are fully compatible all year round. We will also be presenting the QMotion QLink, our newest technological advancement that offers a linked shading system for multi-window coverage.
Who do you hope to meet during the show?
At the onset of ISE 2014, QMotion UK will only be in its fourth month of launching on European soil. This new venture brings a wealth of exciting avenues for the brand to explore and so we will be welcoming interested parties to the stand, working towards signing up distributors in a move to take the QMotion product range into Europe with the aim to accelerate market growth and industry presence. The technology world is becoming increasingly IP and network based.
What are the main challenges here for your market sector?
Networking is a key challenge in the integrator market. Five to ten years ago, the home network consisted of a simple router and a switch system. Now, modern advancements have resulted in systems with a two-router, a firewall and at least one or two enterprise grade 24-port network switches running a managed network. There is no doubt that there is a demand by installers for robust and reliable networks that are compatible for devices, all of which are competing for bandwidth and connectivity. A desire for high levels of control from smart devices is also becoming increasingly popular by homeowners, which has lead to a growing importance for installers to able to deliver a complete, powerful and easy-to-use package. The ideal solution for specifiers and installers renovating and refitting window treatments, the flexible QMotion shading solution offers a revolutionary concept that allows complete management and quiet operation of shades in a single room or multiple areas of a building, all at the touch of a button via remote or an iOS or Android device. Stand alone control options include a PC programmed timer remote function that allows the user up to six events per day and move the shades automatically for sunset and sunrise in addition to four chronological settings. The user can therefore be assured that whilst they are away from their home the shades will continue to operate, providing glare and heat gain control whilst at the same time offering a level of privacy and security. Fitting is also simple with a compact shade tube and bracket construction, allowing installers to fit window treatments efficiently with ease without the need of re-wiring and exposed wires or RF antennas on display like other motorised window coverings require. The QMotion superior wireless motorisation with reliable fingertip control technology has a simple set up after installation that can be programmed to learn the window’s height in one simple step and deliver personalised alignments.
Where are the biggest opportunities for AV and electronic systems integrators in 'smart buildings'?
We have all seen the great control of the AV world, but very few integrators are excelling in the control of energy consumption within the home. QMotion has taken the first few steps and created the tools for the installers to be able to control energy and temperature levels in a building. There is an opportunity to set points for the HVAC to come on to cool a space, but a more advanced option is to control the levels of solar energy so that a HVAC is not required. A multi-floor office building, for example, will benefit from a 15 to 25% reduction in solar energy absorption with sophisticated solar control’ blinds that manage this. QMotion blinds supply an innovative alternative to conventional automated blinds for the installer as these can be pre-set to close incrementally on warm days, helping to combat the solar energy before it enters a space. This solution can yield great returns for corporate building management costs as well as the family home. We’re taking wireless motorised solar shading to new boundaries and continue to develop the same technology with breath taking speed in which we are able to bring new and innovative product to the market. With many more products in the pipe line you can be rest assured that QMotion UK are extremely well placed to meet all your immediate and future needs for the most technologically advanced wireless shading solutions available today.
