SnapAV has continued its spending spree with the recently announced acquisition of music streaming and multi-room audio manufacturer Autonomic.
For most large manufacturers one or two acquisitions at most is enough work in one year, yet SnapAV show no sign of letting up in the final quarter of 2016 and has announced its fourth acquisition of the year. The US-based company has now added media server manufacturer Autonomic to its portfolio, joining surveillance specialist Visualint in SnapAV’s list of recent acquisitions.
Autonomic are renowned for its Mirage range of multi-room amplifiers and streaming players, as well as powering Savant’s multi-room audio system. It recently introduced DTS Play-Fi support and its eSeries multi-room system capable of streaming music over Ethernet.
As with all its offerings, Autonomic will be sold directly to the dealer by SnapAV – replacing the company’s current network of independent reps and rep-distributor channels.
Autonomic will remain based in New York, with co-founders Michael de Nigris and Michael Toscano staying on at the company.
SnapAV has commented that they aim to improve support, product development and pricing for dealers following the acquisition. It also seems likely that Autonomic products will be form part of the company’s smart-home as a service (SHaaS) platform for remote management of products and services.
