Wirelessly charge devices anywhere in a room

A system that has the power to wirelessly charge electrical devices anywhere in the room was recently developed by Disney Research. In a paper published in PLOS One details how quasistatic cavity resonance (QSCR) can generate magnetic fields to safely deliver up to 1900 watts to wireless power devices.

Researchers from Disney Research Pittsburgh note that existing systems – such as those used for electric toothbrushes - are limited to near contact distances.

The approach detailed by authors Matthew Chabalko, Mohsen Shahmohammadi and Alanson Sample shows how purpose-built structures, such as cabinets, rooms, and warehouses can generate the quasistatic magnetic fields.
