It has been announced that this year’s CEDIA Expo 2020 will not go ahead as a physical event due to the global Covid-19 pandemic and will instead move to a virtual experience.
Brian Pagel, executive vice president, Emerald Expositions released a statement last night on behalf of CEDIA Expo outlining the news.
The statement said the show, which was scheduled to take place 8-12 September in Denver, Colorado, was positioned to be the launch pad this year to re-energise the channel for the future.
However, organisers decided to cancel the show due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the fact that the Colorado Convention Centre where the show is held is currently being used as a medical care facility for non-emergency Covid-19 related cases.
The organisers also recognised the many travel restrictions and government guidelines worldwide as well as the general health risks as factors that would have a heavy impact on this year’s show if it were to go ahead.
Pagel said: “While we are deeply disappointed that we will not be coming together in person this September, we are committed to keeping you connected and are already hard at work developing a virtual experience for our connected tech community.
“The CEDIA Expo virtual experience will launch in September and offer everything you need to take your residential tech business to the next level. From session panels surrounding hot topics to keynotes, product discovery, networking and an interactive expo hall.”
The next CEDIA Expo in-person show is planned to take place 1-3 September 2021 in Indianapolis, Indiana, home to the CEDIA Association.
