D-Tools appoints new chief executive officer

D-Tools has appointed G Paul Hess as chief executive officer (CEO), as part of what the company describes as a long-planned leadership transition.

Outgoing CEO Randy Stearns will “downshift” from day-to-day responsibilities after more than a decade in the role, but will remain involved in a strategic and advisory capacity.

Stearns said: “With the company performing at a high level and our strategy, team and capital all aligned, this feels like the right moment for me to step back from the day-to-day CEO role and pass the baton.

“G Paul is the right leader to guide D-Tools into this next chapter.”

During Stearns’ tenure, D-Tools shifted from a primarily on-premises software provider to a cloud-focused business for the electronic systems channel.

The launch of D-Tools Cloud and a greater emphasis on subscription revenue formed a key part of that transition, alongside sustained growth in annual recurring revenue.

Hess brings experience from across the integration channel, having started his career as an integrator before moving into senior roles spanning product, sales and marketing at companies including Snap One and ADI.

His background includes close collaboration with installers, manufacturers and channel partners.

“I’m honoured to build on the foundation Randy and the team have created,” said Hess. "My priority is to listen to our customers, empower our team and thoughtfully scale the strategy already in place as we unleash the company’s next wave of growth.”

D-Tools said its product roadmap and focus on the integration community remain unchanged during the transition.
