Luxury retail and high-performance audio don’t often intersect in a meaningful way, but a new installation at iconic London department store Harrods is aiming to bring the two closer together.
On the store’s fifth floor, the newly opened Cinema Luxe Lounge brings a residential-scale deployment of L-Acoustics into a fully realised home environment. The space forms part of The Faraday Club, a collective focused on presenting high-end AV and smart home technologies in a more experiential format.
At its core is a Dolby Atmos-compliant L-Acoustics system, reworked from the company’s professional ecosystem for domestic use. The approach leans on the same system design principles seen in large-scale deployments, but translated into a residential context where room integration, material choices, and listening positions are more tightly constrained.

Rather than a conventional demo room, the Cinema Luxe Lounge has been designed as a complete living space by Cinema Luxe, with an emphasis on embedding performance technology into a domestic setting. The result is less showroom and more ‘lived-in’ environment, where acoustic performance, interior architecture, and system design are treated as interdependent.
Integration was handled by IndigoZest, which layered control and automation around the audio system. This includes Control4 for system management, motorised blinds from QMotion, and cinema seating from Studio Vellari, forming a tightly coordinated environment.

The installation reflects a broader shift in how high-end AV is being presented to private clients. Instead of isolated product demonstrations, the Faraday Club’s model focuses on fully composed environments that demonstrate how systems perform in situ.

For integrators, it also points to rising expectations around residential performance, particularly for immersive formats where system design, calibration, and room interaction are critical. The use of pro-audio methodologies in the home is becoming less of a novelty and more of a requirement at the top end of the market.

The Harrods space also acts as a platform for the Faraday Club’s partner network, allowing prospective clients to explore specification and delivery routes. IndigoZest is positioned within this model to provide consultation and installation for residential projects stemming from the showroom.
