Bang & Olufsen take Beosound on the move

High-end audio company, Bang & Olufsen has introduced the Beosound Level, a portable wireless speaker designed to provide high-quality sound all around the home.

The specialised portable design features a slim form factor with a built-in recessed handle. Designed to fit into anywhere in the home, Beosound Level can be stood upright, lying flat, or hanging on a wall. The speaker intelligently changes its tuning to deliver the same listening experience, no matter what position or room it is placed in.

“Beosound Level is the ultimate speaker for people who want the flexibility and convenience of a portable speaker but don’t want to sacrifice on sound quality and multiroom connectivity for the ultimate listening experience,” said Christoffer Poulsen, senior vice president and head of product management at Bang & Olufsen.

The new speaker works with Spotify Connect, AirPlay 2, and Chromecast built-in, and also features Bluetooth, voice assistant and Google Assistant.

Designed by Torsten Valeur and crafted in Denmark, Besound Level showcases Bang & Olufsen’s expertise in aluminium manufacturing with its pearl blasted aluminium frame. To match a wide range of interior décor designs, the speaker covers are available in a natural oak veneer, treated to highlight the grains and wood texture, and a knitted grey Kvadrat textile.

To help combat technology obsolescence and waste, Beosound Level has been modularly designed for easy maintenance, service, and repair where customers can perform simple operations like replacing the battery and service partners can easily access vital parts of the speaker.

Beosound Level comes with Bang & Olufsen’s new replaceable streaming module, which will power all the company’s future home speakers. The module has been frontloaded with enough processing power and connectivity technology to receive new performance updates and features for many years to come. It also allows the module to be easily accessible for exchange and reconnection to the main board as a service solution.

If connectivity and streaming technology ever become outdated over time, the module can be replaced with the latest version. This allows the speaker to be completely futureproofed, allowing users to update to the latest technology standards throughout the years.

Completely wireless, the speaker can be used anywhere around the house or garden, with an IP54 dust and splash water resistant rating.

The user interface is embedded in its aluminium frame and the buttons can be activated through soft touch. When someone approaches the Beosound Level, it uses integrated proximity sensors to light up and adjust its brightness to suit day or night. The light slowly dims after the user has stopped interacting with the speaker.

When the speaker needs charging, an aluminium magnetic plug can seamlessly click onto the back of the speaker to make charging easy, simple, and stylish. Bang & Olufsen has also designed an optional wall bracket that allows users to charge the speaker while still listening to music.

Delivering 105 watts of power through its five-driver set up, the speaker has two 4” woofers, one 2” full range driver, two 0.8” tweeters and low distortion amplifiers which allows for adaptive sound staging and delivers 79dB bass capacity and 96dB in mid-range loudness.

Beosound Level has advanced multi-channel supporting acoustic features including active room compensation and comes with 16 hours of playtime at typical listening volumes. This is made possible by intelligently analysing the behaviour and continuously adjusting the power consumption and tuning of the speaker.

The audio architecture of the speaker has been created to automatically adjust its acoustic tuning from 180-degrees to 360-degrees based on the way it is positioned to optimise the listening experience.

Bang & Olufsen plan to continue producing the easily exchangeable front covers in new materials and colours to match even more personal tastes and styles.
