Bowers & Wilkins and Abbey Road Studios have released a limited-edition loudspeaker to celebrate their longstanding history.
The two iconic names in sound commemorate their 45-year relationship with the 801 Abbey Road loudspeaker, offered in an exclusive production run of 140 pairs.
The reference-quality model is based on the acclaimed 801 D4 Signature, developed by founder John Bowers and later adopted by Abbey Road as its monitor of choice.
Giles Pocock, vice president of brand marketing for Bowers & Wilkins, said: “I couldn’t be more thrilled to bring this story to the market.
“We’re immensely proud of our partnership with our friends at Abbey Road and we think the 801 Abbey Road Limited Edition is the perfect way to celebrate that.”
Finished and trimmed in homage to the ‘home of music making’, the loudspeaker features a Vintage Walnut cabinet inspired by Abbey Road’s iconic interiors and musical instruments.
A bespoke red Leather by Connolly trim references the red leather chairs used by generations of performers in the control room in Studio Two, completing the loudspeaker look with a unique identifying plate to mark its limited status.
Buyers will also receive a specially commissioned book detailing the history of the two brands and their collaboration, featuring exclusively published photography.
