Definitive Technology adds to its Demand Series speakers

Definitive Technology has added two pairs of floorstanding speakers and a centre channel to its Demand Series speaker range.

Unveiled today at CES, the Demand D15 and Demand D17 towers and the D5C centre channel join the three bookshelf speakers that already exist in the Demand Series, which was originally released in 2017.

Both models of the floorstanding speakers feature an offset annealed one-in aluminium dome tweeter, coupled with a 20/20 Wave Alignment Lens. This allows more precise imaging by eliminating undesirable symmetric diffraction from the corners of the front baffle, to give a refined and balanced listening experience.

The Demand D15 and D17 also feature the company’s patented Balanced Double Surround System (BDSS) midrange/woofer to give greater excursion, mid-range detail and punchier bass. A 5.25-in mineral-polymer BDSS midrange/woofer is used in the D15, while the D17 uses a 6.5-in version.

New to the series, the tower speakers also feature dual 5.25-in and 6.5-in carbon fibre bass drivers alongside dual eight-in and 10-in side firing passive radiators, which produce extended low-frequency reproduction from a smaller enclosure design.

Complementing the new tower speakers as well as the existing bookshelf speakers, the D5C centre channel can be used to create an immersive home cinema experience.

All three new additions to the Demand Series come with transparent magnetic black grilles that can be removed. The new speakers come in both Piano Black and White colour options.

Pricing for the new range is: D15 - £2,999; D17 - £4,299; and D5C – £799.
