KEF has launched two new in-wall additions to its architectural speaker range, designed to create the ultimate home cinema experience.
The new speakers are the Ci5160REFM-THX, the first THX Certified Dominus speaker from KEF, and the Ci3160REFM-THX, which is THX Certified Ultra for high impact cinema sound.
Pushing the limits of technology, these two new in-wall Ci-Reference speakers have been added to KEF’s Extreme Home Theatre architectural speaker collection. Thanks to the partnership between KEF and THX, listeners will hear all the details exactly as they would in real life as the creators intended, no matter whether the speakers are set up in home cinemas or living rooms.
KEF’s Reference series was originally launched in 1973. The new Ci-Reference speakers have been upgraded with the latest technological advances, including the revolutionary 12th generation Uni-Q driver array and KEF’s pioneering Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT). The bass drivers have been optimised for in-wall use and the aluminium baffle eliminates vibration. Every element has been carefully designed for these models to deliver realistic and immersive sound with improved dynamics for discerning music and movie fans.
The Ci5160REFM-THX is KEF’s first in-wall speaker to be THX Certified Dominus – THX performance class for the largest private cinema spaces. It is also among very few speakers that can achieve this ultimate standard worldwide. With a lot of audio power behind it, the THX Certified Dominus KEF speakers are ideal for rooms up to 6,500ft with a viewing distance of up to 20ft.
The Ci3160REFM-THX not only meets the standards set by The Reference Series but also meets another stringent high-fidelity standard in the THX performance classes – THX Certified Ultra. Similar to the THX Certified Dominus, being THX Certified Ultra ensures the speaker has undergone hundreds of performance and quality assurance tests, from output levels, frequency response, listening window, distortion, and bass management to ensure it is capable of recreating high-impact cinema sound and audio fidelity. THX Certified Ultra products bring the cinematic experience to large home theatres, up to 3,000 cubic feet in size, with a view distance of 12 feet from the screen.
Living up to KEF’s architectural speaker concept of ‘hide your speakers, not your sound’, the two new additions are designed to be discreet in appearance while engineered with its best acoustic performance to deliver an immersive soundscape with the speakers blending into the interior.
Ci5160REFM-THX (£9,500) and Ci3160REFM-THX (£8,000) are both available from today in Aluminium Black/Grey finishes and come with a paintable magnetic metal grille.
