First unveiled to the world back in January 2018, LG has at last released the massive OLED display on to the market in South Korea as pre-orders start in South Korea this week.
The display, known as the LG 88Z9, is comprised of more than 33 million self-emitting pixels, creating a resolution of 7,680x4,320 pixels, quadruple the resolution of 4K UHD.
An Alpha processor is included for upscaling of content from 4K or 1080p, with the processor utilising deep learning technology to take ambient lighting conditions into consideration, automatically adjusting the screen brightness according to the environment.
The 88-in 8K OLED TV supports Dolby Vision content, HDMI 2.1 for 60 frames per second framerate and an automatic low latency mode with a variable refresh rate and audio return channel.
Voice assistant support could also be available in some regions, with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa reportedly being included for select markets.
The LG 88Z9 is due for a European and North American launch in the third quarter of 2019.
