Origin Acoustics has unveiled two new 10-in in-ceiling models to its Director Collection of architectural loudspeakers.
The D101 and D103DT utilise Origin’s unique mounting system structure to appear on the ceiling as through they only contain an 8-in woofer when they are actually 10-in, making them aesthetically pleasing to the client and designer.
The larger woofer makes the speakers ideal for larger rooms, taking advantage of high ceilings and extended frequencies to produce more powerful lows. Origin Acoustics’ CEO, Nick Berry said: “Any ceiling over ten feet can take advantage of these larger woofers.”
The D101 is a two-way loudspeaker with a one-in silk-dome tweeter and 10-in polypropylene/butyl-rubber woofer.
The D103DT features a dual aluminium tweeter configuration specifically for a stereo signal, and an injection-moulded graphite woofer.

Both models lock securely into place using the same bayonet ring system and hides behind the micro-perforated magnetic grille that is used on all models in the Director Collection series.
Due to the bigger sizing, both the D101 and D103DT perform best in large areas such as patios, gyms, rooms with tall ceiling, and home cinema environment where high SPL performance is preferred.
The D101 and D103DT are available now.
