Panasonic has announced its new SC-PMX802 Premium Hi-Fi System and Network Player, which features a Technics JENO Engine amplifier for high performing audio.
The addition of Technics technology places the PMX802 system at the top of Panasonic’s audio range.
“It’s an honour to have the Technics JENO Engine inside the Panasonic PMX802,” said Masaaki Suna, general manager home AV group, Panasonic Marketing Europe. “It takes our acclaimed PMX Series hi-fi systems up a level. Sophisticated listeners demand that their music should sound as the musicians intended. By using premium materials and components we take every step to ensure this.”
The PMX802 has 3-way speakers featuring silk dome tweeters which are capable of reaching frequencies as high as 50kHz. The speakers’ wooden cabinet have a black finish on the front to make them look stylish and luxury.
The system includes a CD player and DAB radio, as well as the capability to play hi-res audio from a USB or stream hi-res audio using Chromecast built-in, AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth.
Taking advantage of its sophisticated audio circuitry, CD High-Res Re-Master helps CD tracks to sound even better. Similar processing is also used to re-master music streamed by Bluetooth, and MP3 music files from a USB source.
“We recognise that many consumers have CD collections that they don’t want to replace,” added Suna. “CD High-Res Re-Master lets them hear those songs with a fresh feel. The changing ways listeners want to hear music are addressed by PMX802. They’ve the freedom to explore new music with Hi-Res streaming or to listen to favourite CDs.”
The built-in Chromecast, AirPlay 2, and Bluetooth make it a versatile Network Player, giving users the ability to access Spotify playlists, podcasts and internet radio. Chromecast built-in is compatible with many hi-res audio services including TIDAL to give users several content platforms to choose from.
The PMX802 features a USB socket on its front panel to allow users to play music from a USB drive. The system is compatible with many hi-res audio standards including the popular FLAC format. Lower resolution files such as MP3s are digitally re-mastered to take advantage of the system’s refined sophisticated sound.
The new system can also be used with the TV, featuring both optical and AUX inputs. The AUX input’s auto-play function means it will automatically start when the TV is switched on. It also allows the user to adjust the volume with the TV remote control.
Cased in a classic metal enclosure with an aluminium front panel and volume control, the PMX802 can be used as a bookshelf speaker or in a corner of the room.
