Philips Hue adds support for Siri Shortcuts

Owners of Philips Hue products can now make use of Siri Shortcuts – recently unveiled as part of Apple’s iOS 12 rollout – to perfect their lighting scheme.

Numerous 3rd party apps including Google News, Pandora and Evernote are already available on Shortcuts, but many had been eagerly awaiting Philips Hue integration.

Only available on the Hue Bridge v2 for now (and for those with the latest version of the Hue app), iOS 12’s Siri Shortcuts feature makes suggestions based on a iPhone user's routines to make their lives easier.

The update allows users to activate lighting scenes in the home via simple recorded personal phrases. Siri can also learn at what time certain scenes are used and suggest them so users can activate from the phone’s lock screen, Apple Watch screen or via Siri search.

The Philips’ Hue app can additionally now work with different apps and services so lighting can be part of a wider scene in the home (i.e. the lights can come down and Sade can play on date night with the mere click of a button).
