Samsung Electronics has entered the outdoor AV market with the launch of The Terrace, its first outdoor 4K QLED TV and accompanying soundbar.
Designed to take the indoor entertainment experience outside of the home, The Terrace delivers Samsung’s QLED 4K display technology and smart TV features, available in 55-, 65- and 75-in models to suit different environments.
With an IP55 rating, The Terrace’s display has weather-resistant durability against water and dust and comes fitted for easy installation outdoors across a variety of settings.
The display increases visibility for different outdoor conditions, providing a brightness level of 2,000 nits to allow users to enjoy content in broad daylight. It is also coated with anti-reflection and adaptive picture technology which optimises content by analysing its surroundings to minimise unwanted glare.
Outdoor AV is often a hit with sports fans who enjoy watching sports in the garden with friends. Its QLED 4K display is perfect for this with a high motion rate to provide clear, lifelike picture quality, ideal for motion-intensive content.
Offering various content and browsing options, The Terrace is equipped with Samsung’s Smart TV platform, Tizen, which powers features such as Samsung TV Plus, a free linear TV video service with over 120 channels, Samsung Health, a comprehensive fitness and wellness platform as well as subscription streaming services.
As well as supporting mobile viewing capabilities like Multi View and Tap View, The Terrace also supports multiple voice services including Bixby, Amazon Alexa and the soon-to-launch Google Assistant.
Although The Terrace delivers high-quality sound and a deep and clear bass sound from its built-in woofers, customers can enhance their sound further by adding The Terrance Soundbar. Through Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, The Terrace can be paired with The Terrace Soundbar or other devices to allow users to customise their TV’s sound output.
The soundbar features distortion cancelling technology regardless of its surrounding environment and is also rated IP55 level durability. It can be mounted to a wall or directly to the TV.
The consumer model of The Terrace is currently only available in the US and Canada but will follow with rollouts to Germany, Australia, New Zealand and other regions later this year.
