Sony creates cinematic experience for living room with new soundbar

Sony has launched the HT-S400 2.1ch soundbar, giving users cinematic surround sound when watching TV, movies, or listening to music in their living areas.

Using Sony’s S-Force PRO Front Surround technology combined with high-quality Dolby Digital, the HT-S400 allows the sound to envelope the audience, while delivering powerful audio with clear dialogue features and 330W total power output. By using front speakers only, Sony’s unique digital sound field processing technology virtually reproduces the surround sound field.

The front speakers include an X-Balanced Speaker Unit, which features a unique rectangular shape to maximise the diaphragm and reduce driver excursion while maintaining sound pressure, resulting in less distortion and greater vocal clarity.

The X-Balanced Speaker has a Separate Notch Edge to improve vertical amplitude symmetry, which is essential for clear sound quality. To achieve this, it uses strategically placed cuts on the edge to help control the stress inside and outside the edge of the diaphragm. These two features ensure audio and speech is clear, especially during action scenes.

Complemented with deep and rich bass, the soundbar comes with a powerful wireless subwoofer with a large 160mm speaker unit.

The HT-S400 is an ideal match for a Sony BRAVIA TV, with a quick and easy set up possible. Thanks to an integrated user interface, the soundbar settings automatically appear on the BRAVIA TV’s Quick Settings menu so that users can control sound settings and volume using the BRAVIA TV remote.

For a tidy cableless set up, the HT-S400 can receiver audio from the BRAVIA TVs wirelessly.

The soundbar also comes with its own remote, designed to give an intuitive and comfortable experience. It provides easy access to Voice mode for clearer dialogue and Night mode for when user want to watch TV without waking everyone in the house.

An OLED display on the soundbar gives uses at-a-glance status information on remote control functions, such as input source, volume and sound modes.

The HT-S400 soundbar will be available in April 2022 and the estimated price will be £260.
