Sony’s first 8K TVs available early June

Sony Europe has announced today the pricing and availability of its new MASTER Series ZG9 8K HDR Full Array LED televisions. The MASTER Series of TVs are the first 8K models from the company.

Designed to deliver a picture exactly as intended by the creator, the MASTER Series TVs also feature Netflix Calibrated Mode and IMAX Enhanced.

The new TV range features the latest generation Picture Processor X1 Ultimate for accurate detail and contrast. This processor plays a vital role on delivering the high-quality picture in the MASTER Series. The Picture Processor X1 Ultimate has a unique algorithm specially developed for 8K that can intelligently detect and analyse each object in the picture to give a more realistic picture.

A big part of the viewing experience is the sound. The ZG9 models feature the new Sound-from-Picture Reality which faithfully reproduces the position of the sound on the screen to make it seem like the sound is coming from the actor’s mouths instead of from a speaker at the bottom of the TV.

One of Sony’s goals with the ZG9 models is to maximise the super-large screen experience in the living room, and for this reason, the new TVs are available in 98-in and 85-in. To make sure premium picture quality is still delivered on an extra-large screen, Sony is introducing extra resolution to its first consumer 8K HDR television. With twice the number of horizontal lines and vertical lines, 8K provides four times the pixels of 4K and 16 times the resolution of Full HD. This creates a more immersive viewing experience.

The 85-in ZG9 will be available early June and will be priced at £13,999. Available from mid-June, the 98-in ZG9 is priced at £84,999.
