StormAudio has released its Firmware 4.0 download for its Immersive Sound Processor (ISP) devices.
With updated immersive audio capabilities, the firmware comes pre-installed in every StormAudio Immersive Sound Processor MK2 device, while MK1 users can download and update their device to run this firmware at no additional cost.
Existing Dirac Live Room Correction calibration performance and results have been highly praised by MK1 users, hence the company’s decision to continue the partnership by introducing Dirac Live’s all-new Bass Control add-on module in Firmware 4.0, a cutting-edge bass management tool for enhanced cinema experiences.
A redesigned Speaker Configurator is another key feature, enabling more flexible configuration possibilities, as well as integration of the Roon music management system to bring music and cinema enjoyment to the home.
The ultimate goal for the new features in Firmware 4.0 is to improve the entire configuration and calibration process for the best possible home media entertainment results.
The update also includes updated solutions for installations of the primary immersive audio formats. Any ISP that runs Firmware 4.0 can now support Dolby Atmos layouts of up to 13.1.10 as well as an additional screen centre, rear surround, and front and rear height channels for greater immersivity.
Other set ups using Dolby-enabled speakers can also now be configured and managed with the new firmware version.
Uniquely available in StormAudio’s Firmware 4.0 are the improvements made to the Auro-3D codec by Auro Technologies, which analyses the speaker layout installed and will now make use of the rear channels in the layout when playing back native Auro-3D 9.1/11.1 content.
The Auro-Matic upmixing algorithm is also updated to give more refined dialogue management on a two-channel stream for improved handling of legacy sources.
The firmware can be downloaded from the Client Portal on the company’s
new website. Additional features including DTS:X Pro and StormAudio Expert Bass Management will be available in the coming months as free software upgrades.
