StormAudio has released an enhanced version of its Core 16 processor.
The home theatre audio manufacturer introduces the Core 16+, featuring expanded capability up to 18 audio channels and powerful advanced features through software upgrade.
Olivier Thumerel, CEO at StormAudio, said: “With the Core 16+, we set out to deliver a processor that is designed to handle increasingly complex home theatre systems whilst staying true to our ‘Core’ principles: performance and reliability.
“Just as importantly, we believe in giving our customers more without raising costs unnecessarily and keeping our promise of future-proof products.
“The Core 16+ offers significant advancements without inflating the price, which is something we’re very proud of.”

The updated processor gives installers and home cinema designers more freedom to deliver ambitious, high-impact speaker layouts including today’s reference-standard 9.4.4 configurations.
Newly available on a software upgrade rather than optional license package, Expert Bass Routing provides precision control over low-frequency energy across multiple subwoofers, whilst StormXT expands spatial realism by generating ambient content in otherwise silent speakers.
The inclusion of an HDMI Dual Zone Matrix adds greater flexibility for multi-room video distribution.
Furthermore, immersive format support with the Core 16+ includes Dolby Atmos, DTS:X Pro, Auro-3D and IMAX Enhanced.
Room optimisation is handled by the latest version of Dirac Live, with Active Room Treatment license included for real-time, spatially aware correction.
Up to 20 parametric EQs can be applied to each channel, and the processor can drive fourway active crossovers as well as any number of subwoofers to meet high acoustic demands.
All existing Core 16 units can be upgraded via the Optional License Package after they have been updated to the 4.7 firmware, enabling the same 18-channel capabilities and advanced features as the Core 16+.
The processor follows the launch of the Core 16 in 2021, an immersive AV processor with iOS and Android remote control functionality.
