LG is lining itself up for a strong CES outing with pre show announcements detailing a 4K short throw projector and new soundbars.
The company’s second-generation CineBeam Laser 4K projector (model HU85L) with Ultra Short Throw (UST) technology will be shown at the Las Vegas show, January 8 to 12, 2019.
At just over 2-in from the wall it can project a 90-in diagonal image. At 7-in from the wall it creates a 120-in image.
It delivers 2,500 ANSI lumens and 4K UHD resolution. Users can stream content or connect via USB, Ethernet and HDMI.
LG’s ThinQ AI technology supports voice control. Films can be selected by speaking into an included “Magic Remote”. The remote also recognises gestures and features backlit buttons.
Soundbars
LG will also introduce its latest soundbars at CES. Models SL10YG, SL9YG and SL8YG were developed with Meridian Audio, have smart functionality and are equipped with AI technology.
The soundbars are able to up-mix two-channel audio to multiple, distinct channels without generating any distortion while maintaining tonal balance. Meridian Upmix technology increases sound immersion by improving the sound field while upgrading the clarity of vocals and lead instruments.
Models SL10, SL9 and SL8 support both Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. Some of LG’s premium soundbars support high-resolution audio via a processing algorithm that can upscale conventional file formats. Users can add the Wireless Rear Speaker Kit to achieve a more cinema-like experience.
AI smart connectivity and voice recognition is offered via a built-in Google Assistant. Compatibility with the Google Assistant-enabled smart products make it possible to control connected devices throughout the home via voice command.
The LG SL9 is 57mm deep and can be installed flush to the wall. An integrated gyroscope sensor gauges the position of the product (fixed to a wall or on a flat surface), adjusting sound directionality.
